Katine Technical Training Institute (KTTI) is a Public Tertiary institution established in 2012 after being upgraded from a Youth Polytechnic, which started in 1958 as a local youth club. In 1972, the institution changed from a youth club to a village polytechnic under the then Ministry of Culture and Social services.

The Institute is located approximately 1 1/2 km from Tala Town. It is approximately 60 Kilometers east of Nairobi, off Nairobi – Kangundo road in Machakos County. The institute is mandated and fully accredited by the Technical vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA) in the ministry of education to provide training in Technical, Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in various courses at Diploma, Craft and Artisan levels. These courses are examined by KNEC, NITTA and CDACC.

The minimum qualification for a diploma course at Katine Technical Training Institute is C- in KCSE and D (Plain) for a certificate course. Students who wish to join the college can apply through Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS). Or visit the college to process the application.

  6. Artisan in Electrical Installation (KNEC)for a maximum of 15 Trainees
  7. Artisan in Masonry (KNEC)for a maximum of 20 Trainees
  8. Crafting Electrical and Electronics (KNEC)for a maximum of 15 Trainees
  9. Artisan in construction Technology (KNEC) for a maximum of 20 Trainees
  10. Artisan in Welding and Fabrication (KNEC) for a maximum of 15 Trainees
  11. NVCET in Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy (KNEC) for a maximum of 15 Trainees
  12. Artisan in Fashion Design and Garment Making (KNEC) for a maximum of 20 Trainees
  13. Crafting Fashion Design and Garment Making (KNEC) for a maximum of 20 Trainees
  14. Craft in Information Communication Technology (KNEC) for a maximum of 20 Trainees
  15. Diploma in Business Management (KNEC)for a maximum of 20 Trainees
  16. Diploma in Supply Chain Management (KNEC) for a maximum of 20 Trainees
  17. Professional in Accounting Technician (KASNEB) for a maximum of 40 Trainees
How to apply for admission at Katine Technical Training Institute

To get a place at Katine Technical Training Institute, one has to apply via the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS). The available programmes, institutions, minimum entry requirements and the application procedure are always available on the KUCCPS Student’s Portal accessible through the Placement Service website www.kuccps.ac.ke. KUCCPS sets an application window within which the prospective students can submit their applications. The Entry requirement for all Diploma Courses is a C- and above; D (plain) and above for Certificate while other course categories are open.
