MultiChoice Talent Factory Opens Applications for Fully Funded 2026 Film and TV Training Programme
The MultiChoice Talent Factory (MTF), a pan-African film and television training institution, has officially opened applications for its 2026 intake, inviting aspiring African directors, filmmakers, scriptwriters, producers, and storytellers to apply for its fully funded programmes.
As part of the CANAL+ Group, MultiChoice has reaffirmed its commitment to delivering compelling African stories to audiences across the continent and beyond. Central to this mission is empowering young Africans with world-class filmmaking, production, and storytelling skills. MTF offers emerging creatives the opportunity to join a journey dedicated to amplifying Africa’s voice on the global stage.
The 2026 intake introduces a robust, industry-aligned curriculum that blends theoretical learning with hands-on experience. The fully accredited nine-month programme is delivered through a hybrid model, combining interactive online classes with intensive in-person training.
With academies based in Kenya, Nigeria, and Zambia, MTF provides practical training, real-world industry exposure, and access to valuable professional networks for aspiring filmmakers from 14 African countries, equipping them to thrive in a highly competitive entertainment industry.
Since its launch in 2018, MTF has trained 296 filmmakers, with graduates producing more than 42 films to date. During the programme, students learn directly from leading industry professionals while gaining insight into both the creative and business aspects of filmmaking. Each participant is required to develop and produce a film project, which is broadcast on DStv and GOtv channels—including Maisha Magic, Zambezi Magic, and Africa Magic—as well as on the streaming platform Showmax.
MTF graduates enjoy strong career outcomes. Many go on to work within the MultiChoice ecosystem, contributing to major African productions, while others establish independent ventures. To date, more than 50 production companies have been founded by MTF alumni, reflecting the programme’s impact on entrepreneurship and job creation in the creative sector.
MTF’s commitment to hyperlocal content empowers Africans to tell authentic African stories—an approach that continues to gain international recognition. Alumni have earned nominations and awards at prestigious platforms such as the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), Kalasha Awards, Uganda Film Festival, and Women in Film Awards. Graduates also regularly collaborate with global creatives at major industry platforms, including the European Film Market and Durban FilmMart.
These achievements underscore the calibre of filmmakers produced by MTF—creatives who are globally competitive while remaining rooted in authentic African storytelling. The skills and knowledge gained through the programme enable graduates to drive cultural expression, economic growth, and community development across the continent.
The opportunity is here. Apply now and take the first step toward shaping Africa’s stories for the world.
