Homa Bay Governor Announces Major Changes in County Executive Committee

HOMA BAY, Kenya — December 1, 2025:Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga has announced significant changes to the County Executive Committee (CEC), aimed at strengthening service delivery and improving governance within the county.

In an executive order issued on December 1, 2025, Governor Wanga outlined three major directives affecting key leadership positions in the county administration.

First, Mr. Danish Onyango has been reassigned to take on expanded responsibilities. Already serving as the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Roads, Public Works, Transport and Infrastructure, Onyango will now also assume the role of Acting CECM for Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock Development.

Second, the governor announced the dismissal of Dr. Peter Ogolla, in accordance with Section 35(a) of the County Governments Act. Dr. Ogolla had been serving as the CECM for Lands, Physical Planning, Housing and Urban Development.

In his place, Governor Wanga has nominated Mr. Joseph Mitito, a seasoned professional from Homa Bay Town known for his strong leadership capabilities. Mitito is proposed to serve as the new CECM for Lands, Physical Planning, Housing and Urban Development, pending vetting and approval by the County Assembly. The governor noted that his name and accompanying documents will be formally submitted to the assembly as required by law.

Governor Wanga emphasized that all changes take effect immediately and directed the County Secretary to ensure a smooth transition for all affected offices.

The executive order, duly signed by Governor Wanga, reflects her administration’s commitment to improving efficiency and accountability in the delivery of county services.
