This is unacceptable in any state governed by the rule of law,” said Ngetich. Ngetich stressed that the Constitution guarantees both the freedom of expression and the right to security, urging the authorities to uphold these rights while ensuring national safety.The activist also expressed his concern over the growing trend of social media abuse, particularly targeting political leaders and public figures. He condemned the circulating images and posts that purportedly show the death of political leaders, including the president, stating that this was not only immoral but also unlawful. “It is not a democratic right to wish death upon someone or to spread false images of coffins. Such actions are inciteful, hateful, and a misuse of the freedoms we enjoy,” he stated.Ngetich called for a responsible and respectful use of social media, urging youths to understand that freedom of speech comes with responsibility. “We need a respectful generation, not one that uses social media to damage the reputation and integrity of others in the name of freedom of expression,” he added. We are at a point where Kenya must urgently act to prevent further damage,” Ngetich stated.
