Many Kenyans were shocked by the news of the passing away of TV personality Charles Bukeko commonly known as Papa Shirndula on the morning of Saturday 19th. The news of his passing a way were confirmed by his family before various leaders and celebrities took to social media to pour their condolences.
Shirandula’s brother-in-law Ronald Wanyama said he experienced difficulty in breathing before he was rushed to the Karen Hospital. He revealed that Papa Shirandula had tested Positive for Covid-19.
“It is sad he didn’t make it out of the hospital alive. He had tested positive for Covid-19. We are devastated,” he confirmed.
The brother revealed that Papa Shirandula had traveled to Western and returned to Nairobi on Sunday before he fell sick.
He would later pass on in the early hours of Saturday morning after developing difficulties in breathing.
Among those who eulogize the TV star was President Kenyatta who mourned the TV star as a “gifted storyteller whose contribution to the development of Kenya’s entertainment sector will be cherished forever”
The Deputy president William Ruto also Eulogized Papa Shirandula as towering, talented and skillful actor that the country had lost.
Many praises were poured in memory of the fallen actor, his humbleness and humility made him stand out. Radio personality Jalang’o revealed that he was first given his name Jalang’o by Shirandula when he auditioned for the TV program Papa Shirandula.
CitizenTV Managing Director Whachira Waruru praised Papa for shaping up local TV programs in the country. He noted that Shirandula had been like a family member to the Citizen TV fraternity.
