Body of Dr Stephen Mogusu still In Morgue Over Ksh. 1M Bill

After the late Dr Stephen Mogusu succumbed to Covid-19, it is now emerging that the body of the 28 year old doctor is still lying at the hospital morgue since they family is yet to clear the 1million hospital bill.
According to a letter from the Kenya Medical Association shared by Reuters , Mogusu’s widow and another doctor have been unable to pay the hospital bill of more than Ksh. 1 million.
In a past interview with the Nation newspaper, Mogusu revealed that after falling ill he could not afford diapers for his 5-month old daughter.
Dr. Mogusu had been employed on a temporary contract at a public hospital in Machakos but was never paid for the five months he worked at the hospital. Reports indicate that Dr. Mogugu had been deployed in a COVID-19 ward at the hospital.

Dr. Mogusu become the 14th Doctor to succumb to Covid-19 since it was detected in Kenya in March, according to the Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU).
This comes at a time nurses and clinical workers have made good of their threats and gone on strike. Most hospitals in the country remain deserted with one patient having been reported to have died yesterday due to lack of medical attention
