How to start Pig farming in Kenya

Starting a pig farming business in Kenya is not a very difficult task. You need to be well informed about the market and the regulations that you need to follow in order to be successful in this venture. The following are some of the things that you need to consider when starting pig farming in Kenya:

1. Start by doing research on the best breeds for your location. There are many different breeds of pigs, but some are better suited for certain environments than others.

2. Once you have chosen the right breed for your location, start looking for a source that sells them. These sources are usually found online or at your local animal feed store.

3. If you are going to start raising pigs on your own property then make sure that they have enough space to move around freely without getting hurt or injured by any other animals nearby like cows.

You will need at least two sows (female pigs) and one boar (male pig). Sows can bear up to 14 piglets per litter, but typically only four or five survive until weaning age (about 6 weeks old).

Pigs should be kept in a secure pen with a slatted floor so they can’t get into trouble digging up roots from under the ground or eating poisonous plants that could make them sick or even kill them.

Pigs will eat just about anything—including grasses, grains, fruits and vegetables—but for maximum efficiency it’s best to feed them grain-based foods like corn or wheat rather than letting them roam free around your garden where they might eat whatever they find growing there instead of what you want them eating .

Pig Feeds

Pigs, like all animals, need a diet that provides them with the nutrients they need to grow and develop properly. The best feeds for pigs are those that provide the right balance of nutrients and energy, while being affordable and easy to digest.

Pig feed can be purchased in several different forms: pelleted feed, liquid concentrate, or dry meal. Each type has its own advantages and disadvantages.

Pelleted feed is often used because it can be stored more easily than other types of pig feed. It is also easier for pigs to digest than liquid concentrates because it doesn’t require mixing before feeding. However, some studies suggest that pelleted feed may not be as nutritious as other types of pig feeds.

Dry meal is another form of commercial pig feed. It may be mixed with water prior to feeding if desired but does not require any additional preparation on the part of the farmer.

Liquid concentrates are another type of commercial pig feed. They are often more expensive than other types of pig feed but may be more nutritious and easier for pigs to digest.

Pigs will also require plenty of locally available food and food remains like, vegetables and fruits.
