Rev. Elijah Kosgey Maiyo, a pastor at the PAG Church Kimaam, has shared a powerful testimony of hope and healing following a life-changing spinal surgery at Tophill Hospital. His remarkable recovery, which defied early medical predictions, has not only restored his ability to walk and resume his daily activities but has also inspired many others who face similar struggles.
In 2020, Rev. Maiyo’s life was turned upside down while he was helping to construct a church in Sengalo, a small town where he ministers. A large stone fell from a height, striking him directly on the back and causing severe spinal injuries. The impact left him bedridden and unable to walk, despite undergoing treatment at several hospitals.
“I went to multiple hospitals, but the pain never stopped. I was told my spinal cord had been severely injured, and the doctors said I might never walk or stand again,” Rev. Maiyo recalled, his voice filled with the emotion of those painful months. His hope for recovery seemed to be slipping away, and his faith in medical intervention was tested by the uncertainty surrounding his future.
Unable to accept the grim diagnosis, Rev. Maiyo sought a second opinion and came into contact with Dr. Florentius Koech, a renowned spinal surgeon at Tophill Hospital. The pastor, despite lacking sufficient funds for the treatment, found hope in the compassion and confidence Dr. Koech displayed.

His recovery has not only allowed him to return to his pastoral duties but also to continue serving the community through his work in agriculture, a critical part of his livelihood.
