The University of Eldoret is a fully chartered public higher learning institution. The University is located in Eldoret nine (9) kilometres along the Eldoret-Ziwa road from Eldoret town, Uasin Gishu County. The university was initially a Constituent College of Moi University before it became a fully fledged university.

The University is Science, Agriculture and Technology based and has grown steadily from the initial Schools of Forestry and Science to the current 9 schools with 34 academic departments and a student population of above 14,000.

Applicants admitted to University Of Eldoret must meet the following general minimum entry requirements in addition to specific subject requirements for each programme.

To get admission to the university, one must meet the following qualifications for various programs;

Undergraduate Programmes

Minimum mean grade of C+ at KCSE

OR

2 principals and 1 subsidiary pass at “A” level

OR

A Diploma in a relevant field of study from a recognized institution.

In addition, applicants must meet the specific subject requirements for each programme

 

Certificate Programmes

Minimum mean grade of a D+ at KCSE or equivalent

 

Diploma Programmes

1 year Diploma programmes require a minimum mean grade of C plain at KCSE

2 year Diploma programmes require a minimum mean grade of C- (minus) at KCSE

3 year Diploma programmes (Diploma in Primary Education /Diploma in Secondary Education) require a minimum mean grade of C+ at KCSE

In addition, applicants must meet the specific subject requirements for each programme

Masters Programmes

Bachelors Degree, Second Class (Upper Division) in a relevant field of study or its equivalent from a recognized University

OR

Bachelors Degree, Second class Honors (Lower Division), with at least two years post qualification work experience

OR

Bachelors Degree with a Pass and a Postgraduate Diploma in a relevant field of study.

PhD Programmes

Masters degree in a relevant field of study, from a recognized University.

Admission at University Of Eldoret happens each year. The main intake usually happens in September. The university carries out intakes in the months of January and May as well.
